The Namibia Animal Rehabilitation Research and Education Centre opened its doors for intakes of injured, orphaned and misplaced wildlife in 1989. NARREC promotes cooperation and advocacy through the use of center-based education, various media as well as attractive and free informative posters and booklets. The issues addressed include animal welfare and ethics, biodiversity and threats, specifically the abuse of chemical biocides. NARREC provides facilities for care and rehabilitation of wildlife with a focus on birds of prey. The environmental education center caters for students of all ages and self-guided touring of our permanent resident raptors is open to the public. NARREC maintains a very active vulture feeding station with associated monitoring and reporting on re-sightings of marked birds.
